People Know How shortlisted for £50,000 grant

We are delighted that our Positive Transitions service has been shortlisted by Ecclesiastical Insurance to receive a grant of £50,000 as part of the 2019 Movement for Good Awards.

Positive Transitions supports disadvantaged children and young people in Edinburgh, offering activities to promote positive mental wellbeing as a means of overcoming educational disadvantage.

This summer we launched our partnership with Polwarth Parish Church (Kirk on the Canal) with whom we have been developing the idea of acquiring a canal boat for the benefit of the community. We have called this new joint project All Aboard, and our partnership enabled us to pilot the delivery of the Positive Transitions on a canal boat on Edinburgh's Union Canal. The pilot demonstrated to us that the canal experience enhanced our service and delivered additional benefits to children and young people.

What will we do with the grant?

A grant of £50,000 will allow us to develop the All Aboard project on a full-time basis, and enable us to establish ourselves on the canal, cementing our partnerships with Polwarth Church and extending the reach of our service.

How can you support us?

We are one of 15 projects to have been selected from hundreds of applications, and over the next 2 weeks, our friends, colleagues and partners will have the opportunity to show their support for our project by visiting the Movement for Good website and voting for Positive Transitions.

Please show your support and help us to make the All Aboard project a central part of Positive Transitions.
