We consider our legitimate interests to be running People Know How as a charitable organisation in pursuit of our vision, mission and values. The information you provide will be used by People Know How in order to for example:

  • Enable us to supply you with the services and information you have requested
  • Analyse the information we collect so we can administer, support and improve and develop the website
  • Provide you with information or services that you request from us or which may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes
  • Notify you about changes to our services
  • Seek your views or comments on the services we provide

If you are a prospective VIP, we may collect and process relevant personal data so we can process your application to become a VIP.

If you are a prospective service user or referring party, we may collect and process relevant personal data so we can contact you to arrange support.

If you are a funder or partner, we may collect and process relevant personal data so we can process your enquiry and contact you throughout our partnership or funded project.

If you are a job applicant, we may collect and process relevant personal data in order to process your application and help you secure a position at People Know How.

If you are a donor, we may collect and process relevant personal data in order to process your donation.

    Our site is created through WordPress. These cookies have functions including checking if cookies are enabled on the browser to provide appropriate user experience to the users. They also function for site admins and their logins.

    On each of our online forms you use, there will be further details of why we are collecting the information asked for. We will always ask for your consent to process your information before you can submit the form.

    Sassy Social Share

    We use the Sassy Social Share plugin to allow users to share content. This plugin does not track any user data. However, it does depends on third party service such as the social media platforms it links to, which may track user data. When our website makes requests to these external servers for you to be able to share our webpages using your accounts, these requests make your IP address visible to the platforms, who may use it in accordance with their data privacy policy.

    Sharing your personal data

    We will never sell your personal data to any third parties.

    We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

    However, in some cases we may disclose necessary information to trusted third parties we work with to provide support, where consent has been given to do so.

    We may also collect data from other parties who have obtained your permission to share your personal data with us, for example, volunteering agencies or databases you have submitted to.

    Retention of data

    We will hold the personal data you provided us only as long as we need to fulfil your agreed request or communication, after which time we will securely erase or delete the data. We keep personal information in accordance with our internal retention procedures which are determined in accordance with our statutory obligations and good practice.

    In order to effectively deliver our services, People Know How stores data on a secure database or on our secure server. All staff are bound by a Privacy Notice and Confidentiality Policy.

    Your rights

    You have the right to request access to, copies of and rectification or erasure of personal data held by us.

    If we have asked for your consent in order to process your personal data you can withdraw this consent in whole or part at any time.

    If you are unhappy with the way we have processed your personal data you have the right to complain to either People Know How directly or to a supervisory authority such as the ICO.
