We’re thrilled to be part of the Power Up Initiative, working towards a shared vision of a more inclusive digital economy, where everyone can benefit from digital to improve their lives, businesses and communities.
People Know How has offered a digital skills service since 2017, and it remains a priority. We see ‘powering up people’ with digital skills capability as central to our mission to support people to overcome disadvantage and unlock their potential.
We're currently relaunching our Reconnect service, designed to support adults in Edinburgh to develop essential digital skills, make better social connections and improve their wellbeing. We use a combination of digital befriending, walking befriending and art befriending to unlock people’s potential whilst promoting healthy bodies and healthy minds.
With the support of Power Up, an initiative by The Good Things Foundation with the financial support of JP Morgan, over the next 2 years we will enhance our digital service, with a special focus on supporting:
- Working-age adults who are unemployed, underemployed or in low-paid work and who need essential digital skills for the workplace;
- Working-age adults in financial difficulty and for whom improved digital skills could empower them to improve their financial circumstances;
- Local microbusinesses (0-9 employees) with an interest in adopting digital technology but without the skills, confidence or time to progress this.
We will do this by combining our unique Digital Befriending model, with group support in various locations across the city, including our own Digital Space which is part of the Good Things Foundation Online Centres Network. For microbusinesses in need of a digital boost, we can tailor make a support package, from informal drop-in support to a structured Digital Champion Secondment. If you'd like to know more about our service, we would love to heard from you! Please get in touch!
