People Know How took part in Purple Tuesday 2019, pledging to make a change to improve the customer experience for our disabled VIPs and service users.
Purple Tuesday
Purple Tuesday is an international call to action focusing on changing the customer experience for disabled people. This campaign encourages organisations of all sizes, across the globe, to take active steps to better meet the needs of disabled customers and staff.
Whether it’s introducing a new product to the disabled market or simply integrating disability awareness into company culture, organisations are asked to commit to a minimum of one activity or pledge to take forward to the following year. With more and more organisations taking part each year, this campaign aims to make proactive steps in creating a more accessible society.
Our pledge
At People Know How, we're passionate about creating an inclusive environment, and consistently strive to meet the needs of our VIPs in the best way that we can.
For Purple Tuesday 2019, we pledged to enhance our knowledge about disabilities, banish any misconceptions and open up the conversation. This involved a visit from Johanna Wisbey from ENABLE Scotland, who ran a training session on Hidden Disabilities. In this session, we busted myths, discussed some common faux-pas and took part in eye-opening activities to help us consider some of the frustrations of living with a disability.
The big day
On Purple Tuesday, 12 November 2019, the People Know How team arrived to the office dressed in purple to show their support. We were also visited by Johanna and ENABLE to share stories, celebrate our pledge and start planning how we can do ever more!
We’re excited to continue being part of Purple Tuesday and see what next year brings!
