We're excited to announce that our Positive Transitions Service has been awarded a £50,000 grant by Ecclesiastical Insurance as part of the 2019 Movement for Good Awards!

You may have read our article from August in which we announced that we were shortlisted to receive a £50,000 grant in Ecclesiastical Insurance's Movement for Good awards. A month later we're now delighted to announce that we are one of the winners! We were one of 15 projects to have been selected from hundreds of applications, and one of only ten to be awarded a grant!

"This is absolutely fantastic news. An excellent recognition for all the wonderful work that the congregation has done over the last few years...I look forward to it arriving and getting on the water." - Ian Murray, MP

Enhancing our service

The grant will go towards our Positive Transitions service, supporting children and young people across Edinburgh, offering activities to promote positive mental wellbeing as a means of overcoming educational disadvantage. With this award, we'll be able to support even more children, young people and families in Edinburgh, through both staff members and an expanded team of VIPs (volunteers, interns and placement students).

Specifically, this grant will drive our newest Positive Transitions project, All Aboard. This project, in partnership with Polwarth Parish Church, is based on the idea of acquiring a canal boat for the benefit of the community.

"Only last week a young person asked us when they'd get to go on the canal again. They were part of our pilot - it'll mean so much to them that they can go on the canal more often." - Glenn Liddall, Chief Executive

After a successful pilot of the project this summer, we're excited to begin delivering our Positive Transitions service aboard a canal boat on Edinburgh's Union Canal, enhancing the service and delivering additional benefits to children and young people.

“Part of the Positive Transitions ethos is to engage children and young people with learning – this is an opportunity to do that in a new and innovative way, where new relationships can form and new opportunities can arise for them, their families, as well as for us as a charity and for Polwarth Parish Church.” - Miren Ochoa Sagues, Operations Manager

Thank you!

We want to thank our wonderful friends, colleagues, partners and everyone who showed their support for our project by voting for us! Thank you so much, we can't wait to show you how All Aboard takes shape!
