Launching our VIP Strategy

Claudia BaldacchinoNews

We’ve launched our VIP Strategy, outlining our commitment to providing a rewarding experience for our VIPs (volunteers, interns and placement students).

We call our volunteers, interns and placement students VIPs. This is because they’re indispensable to our services supporting the community. Everyone is welcome, no matter your age or background. Whatever role you take, we can guarantee that you’ll make new friends, gain experience and feel part of something bigger.

VIPs have been involved in People Know How since it was founded in 2013 and since then their involvement has gone from strength to strength. We currently offer opportunities to volunteer across our services, from supporting children and young people to helping people with their digital devices to navigating the Union Canal on our All Aboard boat. We also host internships and student placements from external organisations and universities.

In 2019 we employed a dedicated member of staff to support our VIPs to ensure that, along with the people who use our service, VIPs stay at the forefront of our work. There is now a recognised need for a more formal development plan.

Thanks to feedback provided throughout the year, we have tailored a strategy that meets the needs and goals of our VIPs. It sets out our approach to VIPs and our plans for refreshing our VIP programme, developing opportunities and making People Know How the place to go for volunteers, interns and placement students to develop their skills, share their experience and achieve their goals.
