This summer our All Aboard canal boat will be hosting a concert series presented by Live Music Now Scotland and Health All Round.
After almost a year of providing a space in which to nurture community cohesion and wellbeing with our partners Polwarth Parish Church, our All Aboard canal boat is now hosting a summer concert series, presented by Live Music Now Scotland and Health All Round.
“Live Music Now Scotland musicians are used to playing in unusual venues, but this is the first time in the organisation’s history that they have performed on a canal boat!”
Concerts on the canal
We’re delighted to be welcoming this summer concert series to the Union Canal. Together with charity Live Music Now Scotland and community group Health All Round, this new project brings live music to the canal community and gives fairly paid performing opportunities to the best of Scotland’s up and coming traditional talent.
Live Music Now Scotland is a music charity committed to opening up the health and social benefits of live music, especially for those who would otherwise not have access to such opportunity. Their performances prove that music decreases anxiety, brings positive wellbeing and enhances mood.
Coupled with the unique natural setting of All Aboard, our aims to provide a space to find new experiences and improve wellbeing, and Health All Round’s community development approach to wellbeing focused services, we can’t wait to welcome this series aboard!
The following community concerts will take place on All Aboard over the summer:
- Monday 1 August: Megan MacDonald and Calum McIlroy – accordion and guitar duo
- Monday 8 August: Siannie Moodie - clarsach player
- Monday 22 August: Penny James and Matt Tighe – fiddle duo
- Monday 29 August: Sally Simpson and Catriona Hawksworth – fiddle and piano duo
- Monday 19 September: Roo & Neil - fiddle and accordion duo
