Brexit Conversations

25th August 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The University of Edinburgh is launching Brexit and You, a series of public events about the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.

Beginning in Leith, members of the public are invited to meet and speak with experts about some of the issues that Brexit raises and how it may affect communities.

Join in

Some of the country’s leading researchers in the fields of immigration, European history, citizenship, and the economy will be on hand to answer questions about Brexit’s potential effect.

Brexit and You is a non-partisan event. The format will be based on discussion, rather than a lecture. Input from the public is as important as that of the experts.

Depth of knowledge

The academics taking part will include Professor Jo Shaw, Salvesen Chair of European Institutions; Dr Emile Chabal, Chancellor’s Fellow in History; Sandra Eden, Senior Lecturer in tax law; and Dr Harry Weeks, expert in media and communication.

The first event will be facilitated by John Sturrock QC, Chief Executive and Senior Mediator, Core Solutions Group.

Following the first event in Leith, Brexit and You will be held in other Edinburgh communities across the autumn.

Brexit and You is supported by the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and the Beltane Network. It is organised by Prof McAra and Dr Adam Budd from the School of History, Classics and Archaeology.
